OUR
COMMENTS
1. Council is only obligated to inform neighbours who seem likely
to be directly affected by the proposed development. Thus some
people who may feel affected may not be formally notified. They
are nevertheless still free to submit comments to Council. Indeed,
any person is allowed to make a submission - the key issue for
the Council is whether the submission has relevance.
2. The 10 days allowed for public comment places some pressure
on neighbours and others to act quickly to inspect detailed
plans in Council Offices, and to make their submissions before
it is too late. Council may nevertheless make some allowance
for holiday periods or unusually complex issues.
3. Greenwich Community Association will usually comment on
significant DAs that appear non-compliant, and which may affect
the amenity of the Community a whole. In some cases, these
comments may be made available on the GCA website.
4. Council has no apparent obligation to keep neighbours
informed on the progress of consideration, approval or rejection
of a DA after its initial lodgement and notification.
It is thus necessary for concerned neighbours to go to some
effort to keep themselves informed by calling or visiting
Council or one of their ward councillors, or by regularly
accessing Council's web page.
